Twitter Chat Highlights

Well, it was my first Twitter Chat. I’ll declare it a success because of what I learned! I’d like to share my lessons learned, as well as some of my answers to just a few of the questions I was asked.

Lesson 1: It takes a LOT of time and thinking to prepare to be the guest on a Twitter chat. The responses to the questions must fit into the 280 character limit, so you have to prepare each reply as succinctly as possible.

Lesson 2: You can jazz up your responses with graphics, but those take time and thought too!

Question 1: What does it mean to transform, and how does that relate to education?

Lesson 3: If you have more to say, you can break it into chunks – 1/3, 2/3, 3/3.

Question 2: What does it look like to make education inclusive and accessible for all?

Lesson 4: It’s possible that the host group could have readers who don’t respond or ask questions.

Question 6: To transform communities & neighborhoods, what kind of education institutions should we build?

Lesson 5: The whole process was well worth it because it required me to think about the purpose of my consulting from a global perspective.

Question 7: Transforming education cannot be done without involving educators; how can educators be equipped and empowered in their mission of developing the next generation of lifelong learners?

Thanks, Girls Leading Network for inviting me!
